Aleksi Sarkkinen

Aleksi Sarkkinen (b. 2013) began his piano studies in 2022 at the Espoo Music Institute under the guidance of Rebekka Angervo. Prior to this, he had played the piano independently for about two years.

Aleksi completed the studies of Finland’s Advanced Syllabus in Basic Education in the Arts (Music) in a remarkably short period of time. He has performed in numerous concerts and has achieved success in several piano competitions.

In June 2026, he won First Prize in Category D (ages 11–12) at the International Finlandia Piano Competition. In September 2025, he won First Prize in Category II (ages 12–15) at the National Tapiola Piano Competition, and in June 2025, he was awarded Second Prize in Category B (ages 11–12) at the International Città di San Donà di Piave Piano Competition in Italy. In January 2025, he placed second in the Under-13 category of the National Leevi Madetoja Competition, and in December 2024, he received Third Prize in the Under-13 Piano Duo category at the National Juvenalia Chamber Music Competition.

Aleksi has participated in masterclasses with Konstantin Bogino, Andrea Bonatta, Massimiliano Ferrati, Mei Yi Foo, Andreas Frölich, Johan Fröst, Ivari Ilja, Vanessa Latarche, Murray McLachlan, Joonas Pohjonen, Niklas Pokki, and Matti Raekallio. 

In spring 2026, he was selected to join the Youth Piano Academy Finland.
