Study methods

Find out about the Youth Piano Academy Finland's study methods and the aims and content of its teaching.

The Youth Piano Academy Finland has around ten students at a time, aged between 12 and 19. Our activities consist mainly of weekend-long master classes, which we organise 6-9 times a year in different parts of Finland in cooperation with different music schools.

During the master classes, a rotating team of teachers guides the versatile learning. Our master classes are also frequently visited by Internationally renowned piano artists. Teaching is primarily in Finnish and, if necessary, in English.

In addition to solo lessons, our master classes include different activities to support learning, such as workshops on piano practice or technique, practice guidance, prima vista playing, piano music history, repertoire knowledge, ensemble musicianship and performance coaching.

Since 2023, we have also offered chamber music courses jointly to students of the Youth Piano Academy Finland and the String Academy.

The Youth Piano Academy Finland’s lessons are intended as additional training alongside the student's weekly piano lessons, so we aim to collaborate with each student's regular piano teacher and local music school.

The Youth Piano Academy Finland wants to contribute to the development of Finnish piano playing and piano pedagogy by investing especially in the education of early adolescents and young people. Our aim is to create an inspiring and stimulating environment where talented young people can learn from top teachers and from each other.
