Atte Kohtala (born 2007) is a pianist from Savonlinna. He has been involved in a variety of music studies at the Savonlinna Music and Dance Institute since he was a baby. He specialized in piano since 2016 as a student of Anja Forsberg. He was accepted to the Youth Piano Academy Finland in the summer of 2021 and from the autumn of the same year his teachers are Niklas Pokki and Kalla Luhtasela at the Savonlinna Music and Dance Institute.
Atte has participated in Paavali Jumppanen's masterclasses at the Savonlinna Music Academy for six years, and has also attended his courses at the Savonlinna Music and Dance Institute in the spring every year since 2017. In primary school, Atte was in a music-oriented class, and studies nowadays in a music upper secondary school.
Atte has been awarded a recognition prize at the Mikkeli IX and X Piano Review (2018, 2022), third place at the Kuopio IX Piano Competition shared with Aino Lappalainen and a special prize for the best Bach interpretation in the series (2021), first place at the Kuopio X Piano Competition shared with Gennadii Tinovitskii (2024), a recognition prize and a special award of The Society of Finnish Composers at the XII Leevi Madetoja Piano Competition (2022) and second place at the XXIV International Academic Music Competition Jūrmala 2023 for Piano. Atte has also performed, for example, with the Savonlinna Orchestra Savonlinna at the Music and Dance Institute’s Young Soloists Concert.
