Maximilian Fagerlund

Maximilian Fagerlund is a young 17 year old pianist from Helsinki. He started his studies at the age of six with Junio Kimanen at Länsi-Helsinki Music Institute. In 2015 Maximilian began his studies under Liisa Malmivaara first at Turku Conservatory and later in 2016 at Helsinki Conservatory. He was accepted into the Finnish Youth Piano Academy in the spring of 2023. Maximilian has been taught by several acclaimed piano artists such as Severin von Eckardstein and Matti Raekallio. 

Maximilian is a very experienced performer for his age. His pianistic abilities range from classical repertoire to versatile improvisation. He also works as a chamber musician, lied-pianist, an active composer as well as a conductor. He has studied orchestral conducting under renowned conducting pedagogue Jorma Panula since 2024. As a composer Maximilian has been awarded with a special prize for his work ”Dabloons” for cello and piano in the international Jugend Musiziert music competition. 

In 2023 Maximilian performed as soloist with the Sibelius-upper secondary school symphony orchestra. In 2024 he will perform at the Riihimäki Summer Concert Series and Turku Music Festival. The Pro Musica-foundation in Finland has awarded Maximilian with a scholarship for advancement in his musical studies.
